Connecting Science and Practice Workshop

Earlier this week the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Split hosted the workshop “Connecting Science and Practice,” which brought together top experts as well as wine and olive producers from all parts of Dalmatia. The event was organized as part of the Institute’s major modernization project, which includes the construction of a new Center for Advanced Analytics, an investment that will introduce state-of-the-art biochemical, genetic and metabolomic laboratories to southern Croatia.

The main focus of the workshop was on strengthening collaboration between scientific research and practical applications in Mediterranean agriculture. As part of the program, Ivana Vuka, our senior innovation manager, delivered a presentation on increasing product value. In her talk, she highlighted the importance of intellectual property in collaborative projects and emphasized how small producers can strategically leverage various forms of intellectual property they already hold to create higher-value products that consumers are willing to pay more for.

RISE’s role in the event emphasised the importance of effective knowledge transfer and thoughtful IP strategy in advancing Mediterranean agricultural development
